Advocacy Updates

  • Carbon Tax – The government passed its 2024 budget bill, which locks in the promised $2.5 billion in carbon tax rebates for SMEs. Watch our video on CFIB’s role in this victory.
  • Capital Gains – On June 25th, the federal government’s capital gains changes came into effect. Half of Canada’s small firms will be negatively affected. Read more.
  • Construction Mitigation – CFIB urges municipal governments to prioritize construction mitigation relief for small businesses now.
  • Replacement Workers – CFIB strongly opposes Bill C-58’s passing in the Senate, which limits the use of replacement workers during strikes in federally regulated workplaces.
